I'm drifting silently down the river and look over at the other shore. Water flows gently past, gurgling against the side of the boat. It swirls past my fingers as I dip my hand in. I see a massive palm tree, easily 10 times larger than anything I've ever seen in my life (and I've seen a lot of palm trees). It hits me with a jolt, it is nothing short of majestic. Our guide José says it's a King Palm. Two white canoes paddle past us, like mirages in the shimmering air. Subjects in this glorious kingdom.
