This piece is based on so many memories of Maracas Beach over the years. Impressions of things that always seem to stay the same no matter how much time passes. Tropical air kissing your skin. Palm trees swaying in the breeze. The roll, crash and hiss of ocean waves. The ever-present hills in the distance. Sinking your feet in the sand. Bathers and sun seekers dotting the shoreline. Vendors standing a bit apart, working on their craft. For me, these are iconic images of the Caribbean, evoking memories of peace, presence, expansiveness and resilience.
